Baby Tigers (Cubs)
Baby Tigers (Cubs)
Baby tigers are called cubs. They are born after a pregnancy of about 3.5 months and usually come in litters of 2 to 4 cubs. At birth, tiger cubs are blind and helpless, weighing only around 1 kilogram (2 pounds). Their eyes usually open after 6 to 12 days, and they start to walk at about 2 to 3 weeks old.
Tiger cubs depend entirely on their mother for warmth, milk, and protection during their first few months. The mother tiger hides them in tall grass, caves, or bushes to keep them safe from predators. She will move them often to avoid being found by enemies.
As they grow, cubs begin to eat meat at about 6 to 8 weeks old but continue nursing for up to 6 months. They stay with their mother for around 2 years, learning how to hunt and survive in the wild.
Tiger cubs are playful and curious, often wrestling with each other and chasing after small animals or leaves. These play behaviors help them develop the skills they will need as adult hunters.
Sadly, tiger cubs face many threats, such as habitat loss, poaching, and illegal wildlife trade. Conservation efforts are essential to protect these beautiful animals and ensure they have a future in the wild.
